Elin The Lorebearer

Elin is a young woman from a village of explorers 
searching for artifacts and lost places of magic.
During her time traveling, she accquired alot of knowledge
and is now one of the most valueable members of her village.

This project was meant to be a culmination of all things 
I've learnt over the last years. High quality textures, 
clean deformations and cinematic simulations.
Details - Face

Alot of work went into the face to achieve 
a high level of expression and storytelling.

All Hair was created by using Blenders HairSystem
to give the most realistic appearence.

Additionally her face paint was created using a liquid 
metal texture in Substance Painter to give a ritualistic look.
Details - Pendants and Ornaments

Pendants and ornaments were used to fill 
empty spaces on the clothes.
This way the viewer always has something to discover and enjoy.

The beads on ropes were created using geometry nodes 
to give a random appearence on every instance.
After creating the bead strands they were simulated 
by using a simple plane with cloth physics and a surface deform modifier.

To save memory I created only 3 textures for beads 
and used subsurface scattering on beads 
which were meant to be translucent
Details - Ornament

I wanted to create a focus object with a storytellying aspect.
As a result I created an ornament wrapped up 
in ropes to carry around on her belt.

The ornament represents a round colored stone encased in rough gold.
The ropes were created with bezier curves and 
the new curve to tube modifier in Blender 5.0

Additionally I added some leather straps at the bottom 
to give a visual counterweight to the ropes at the top.
Detail - Glove

To break up the symmetry on the hands I added a, archer inspired, 
glove to her right hand. It has some ritualistic symbols 
painted onto the Index finger.

A natural leather with a medium roughness was used with a 
rough leather version in high stress areas.
Additionally I hid UV seams under real seams with the new 
path brush in Substance Painter.
Turntable Render

A turntable to showcase the simulations
Topology

Clean Topology for optimal deformation 
and a high displacement quality.

Higher density areas were instanced to save
systemmemory and performance.
